Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California
October 28, 2005

The Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern
California was an outgrowth of the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency's
Nihonmachi Master Plan, which included the construction of a community
center in Japantown. Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern
California (JCCCNC) was selected as the name of the future facility.
Plans for JCCCNC began in 1971 with construction commencing in 1986.
Today, JCCCNC hosts a number of programs that highlight the Japanese
culture and serve the needs of the Japanese community.
One such community event was the 2005 JCCCNC Halloween Carnival. Faced with increased volunteer staffing needs driven by the expansion of the Carnival hours by 67%, the addition of more game stations and increased attendance (based on pre-ordered dinner requests), the SF Flying Eagles volunteered their services in support of the Halloween Carnival.
In appreciation, the JCCCNC wrote:
"Thanks to quality volunteers like
yourself, the JCCCNC achieved its goals of providing a safe and
fun environment for the community to celebrate Halloween."
