The San Francisco Food Bank
SF Flying Eagle members and friends gave up a part of their Saturday on March 5, 2005 and volunteered at the San Francisco Food Bank. With two three-hour shifts, six days a week, the San Francisco Food Bank relies on volunteer support to process food donations ( www.sffoodbank.org ). Pictured below is the SF Flying Eagle group getting ready for their first assignment, repackaging meats from bulk 30-pound bags into two-pound bags.

After completing our first assigned task, we moved onto a similar task, only this time involving oranges. Oranges were sorted (discarding the spoilage) and packaged into smaller boxes.

In appreciation, the San Francisco Food Bank wrote:

"On behalf of the Food Bank and the many people throughout San Francisco that will receive directly because of your service on Saturday, I thank you. You and the other volunteers from the SF Flying Eagles helped to produce a lot of food that'll soon be out in the communities of San Francisco feeding people in need.
