The San Francisco Food Bank
SF Flying Eagle members and friends
gave up a part of their Saturday on March 5, 2005 and volunteered
at the San Francisco Food Bank. With two three-hour shifts, six
days a week, the San Francisco Food Bank relies on volunteer support
to process food donations ( www.sffoodbank.org ). Pictured below is the SF Flying Eagle group getting
ready for their first assignment, repackaging meats from bulk 30-pound
bags into two-pound bags.

After completing our
first assigned task, we moved onto a similar task, only this time
involving oranges. Oranges were sorted (discarding the spoilage)
and packaged into smaller boxes.
In appreciation, the San Francisco Food Bank wrote:
"On behalf of the Food Bank and the many people
throughout San Francisco that will receive directly because of your
service on Saturday, I thank you. You and the other volunteers from
the SF Flying Eagles helped to produce a lot of food that'll soon
be out in the communities of San Francisco feeding people in need.
I hope you enjoyed your time here, and we look forward to working
with you again in the future. Please let me know if you are interested
in coming in again. Have a great day!"
